Homemade Tomato Sauce

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Cook Time: 60 minutes
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Yields: 10 cups roughly

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 155ml tomato paste, one can
  • 8 cups tomatoes, chopped, canned works well
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

Directions

  1. In large pot add oil and brown the onion over medium heat.
  2. Add remaining ingredients with fresh ground pepper and dried chili flakes to taste.
  3. Let simmer about one hour.
  4. Puree the sauce in a blender or food processor, in batches if need be.
  5. Serve.

Notes

  • Makes plenty of sauce to be saved and used  later.
